Vilnius boasts an abundance of opportunities for families with children enjoy the outdoors and the natural beauty of the country. Beach areas in the Baltic offer the chance to build sand castles, swim and go for a sail. For indoor treats, there is a number of museums that children will interested.
Festivals – Time your visit to see an outdoor festival. Kids will probably enjoy the festivals year round in Vilnius, particularly in the summer. For example, during the festival of street musicians, there is music everywhere throughout the city. It can be so much fun to walk down the street and enjoy the different variety of street musicians.
Malls – All of the major shopping malls in Vilnius have some kind of recreation area for kids. Take your kids to a recreation center where kids will love it.
Vichy Water Park – Located at Ozo 14 C, Vilnius. Take the kids in Vichy Water Park, set conveniently next to the Ozas shopping center. With a Polynesian theme, Vichy Gardens is filled with rock sculptures, totem poles, masks, grass skirts, indigenous plant life, traditional music and dancing. But the real excitement is in the bevy of waterslides. The 280m2 wave pool might be more the speed for some, or relax in one of the sunbeds lining the ‘shore’. Children will get their own play island and a chance to learn Polynesian dancing. It is great fun for the entire family.
Belmontas Park – Located at Belmonto street 17, Vilnius. Belmontas is a beautiful park and a recreation complex just a few minutes drive from the old town that kids will enjoy. Enjoy grilled food with your kids while sitting outside in magnificently maintained, but natural surroundings.
Puppet Shows – Traditional puppet shows are popular throughout the country and are sure to be a hit with your kids. Vilnius is one of the main puppet theaters, where regularly scheduled performances are staged. Local families attend these shows as well, and it is a good opportunity for your kids to meet local children.
Cycling – There are routes suitable for families with children in many parts of the country. As the countryside is relatively flat, most of the cycling routes as easy to average in difficulty. Main roads are paved with asphalt, with occasional hills. Cycle paths are found in many areas, as are forest trails and gravel roads.
Parks and Woodlands – In Lithuania it boasts of excellent scenery and natural beauty, in its lakes, old growth forests and traditional villages. Five areas have been designated as national parks by the government in order to protect native flora and fauna.
